I love the book but it came damaged....

This was a well written story. I get very connected to the characters and the setting where the books take place. Would I seem to be acting superior, even in a high school where you might expect reading to be encouraged, yet where I felt almost entirely out of place, as if living a segment of "The Diary of a Madman". What happened to Dan. Years of low pay, debts and a pension that would have me eating lettuce for dinner. True treasures in the physical realm require some work, some digging, to find.
