I can't believe this was a debut novel. Granted, at first they don't seem boring. It's worth the read. Howard in its great forward momentum; another apt comparison might be to the movie serials of the '30s-'50s. All in a all, I'd give this book a four-year rating. This book is a must read for anyone who desires to stretch their minds with new understandings, who wants to remove false beliefs, or who is looking for an interesting study of the human ego and (spiritual) psychology in general. This book hops back and forth from a reluctant possible hero in the form of a 16 year old boy raised by his dad and a spoiled and unloved rich boy.
