I bought this book, made several recipes (which I loooved) and I enrolled in culinary school about six months after I got it. Ushers following his example or trained by him functioned supernaturally. Be sure to check any new books by this author, and publisher if this is they way they are going to mislead. I would not have purchased after reading a sample, fortunately, it was free. I read Shaman when I was on a week's fishing trip down in Baja, California, and I well remember sitting out on the warm patio and being deeply engrossed in this captivating story. The author speaks with a rough-and-tough, "that's how it is" voice that feels authentic.
