very good read with all the right ideas. It didn't feel like one of those stories where the author put all their energy into two or three characters and everyone else is just there. This story was so special that it brought tears to my eyes. It's a feel-good novel that appeals to people who enjoy a little light romance and quirky animal stories. Whether going to a job interview and want to know how to negotiate, or you’ve been in a position for a while and it’s time for a raise, the principles are basically the same. The book takes us on a lively, information-packed walk through the life of this much-loved material: from its humble beginnings as electrical insulation; to its initial adoption by designers including Donald Deskey in the 1930s; to a golden age ushered in by the post–World War II housing boom; through global expansion in the second half of the twentieth century; to the laminate’s inventive uses by designers, artists and architects such as Jasper Morrison, Daniel Buren, Frank Gehry, Laurinda Spear and Zaha Hadid; through to the present, which finds the Formica Group working with young designers to push the limits of this pioneering material. it is unbelievable how they accomplished all they did and how many were saved because of this underground network. Very difficult to find solid info on Maps, other than Austin's Turtle Pages care sheets, which is very condensed. Intended for mature readers only. What the reader should understand is that German victory in the desert in winter of 1941 was not certain, and the eventual recovery was not certain either.
